Make way for the Maruti’s successful car in the three-box car sedan segment. The predecessor of the not so great SX4, make way for the most the desirable sedan - Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. There happens to be a vague meaning behind its name too. Some sources claim it to be Comfort, Intelligence, Attitude and Zeal as the important aspects of this wonderful car. Maruti has been able to get neck-to-neck with Honda City by selling approximately 4000-5000 odd cars every month. The Ciaz has been a revolution in the market by its firm entry into the premium segment.
Under the hood of this sedan is a 1.4 Litre K-series engine for the petrol version and a 1.3 L Ddis 200 engine for the diesel version. These engines have been familiar and have been there for quite some time. Maruti has redefined the engine by tuning it exceptionally well. The SHVS technology is applicable only for the diesel engine. The petrol cars are available in both 5-speed manual as well as 4-speed automatic transmissions.
These aren't one of the most powerful machines in this segment, but they happen to do they job very well. The petrol engine can pile up to 91 bhp@6000 rpms while the diesel counterpart can kick in 88bhp@4000 rpms. Both engines can produce a decent amount of torque too. The power delivery is very at lower as higher ranges. It is the middle range where the car needs a bit of working. The Ciaz is a beautiful handler just like other Maruti cars.
